I am super visual, so when someone draws something for me, I process it ten times faster. Put those drawings on a single piece of paper for easy reference, and I'm likely to marry you.
Take, for instance, this great illustration on how to set a dinner table by Amy Borrell. It's informative (especially if Queen Elizabeth is popping over for dinner next week), and pretty to boot.
Another favorite, on ways to make your space appear larger, by Yumi Sakugawa.
Here's a roundup of (maybe less pretty, but equally useful) design guides from the Interwebs for you to whip out of your back pocket when needed.

Great post, thanks!
ok... this is great because i LOVE infographics.. but that one about how to make a space look bigger... idk.. some of those ideas or tips aren't really true. like pushing all furniture against the wall.. yes it makes more floor space but it can also make things un-cozy, at least for living situations.. maybe they're more generalized tips.. like... dark rooms can make a space feel bigger if done correctly.
I agree. I'm more to imagery than writing.
I do this for a living. I'm already married.
Yumi's list is cute but in case anyone has the tendency to take any of the 'rules' as gospel, please know many of them are hotly debated among design professionals, with approximately equal numbers taking each side of the debate!
For example, wall colors, furniture against walls, size of furniture, etc. It seems that often the results are counterintuitive.
LOL @Duane_Hill
Thanks. I love charts and such. Especially when they're about upholstery.

Interior design is inherently visual, so I'd be surprised if people found this type of information easier to digest WITHOUT using visuals. :S
Nice resource list.
@Duane Hill ... love your response!
I love infographics as well and did a little roundup on my blog a while back. Helpful stuff like how big a rug should be in a room and the proper way to set a buffet table, etc.

Most helpful post ever. Thanks for this!
@SultanPprShkr
Well, "un-cozy" does not at all disagree with "more spacious", so on that basis the advice is not incorrect, just whether one should deploy it depends on one's priorities.
