Design Classics: Toys that Stand the Test of Time

Design month is almost over here at Apartment Therapy, but we can't let it go without mentioning some of the amazing classic toy designs for kids. These toys set the stage for many of the contemporary toy lines we love, but the originals still stand the test of time. Many of them are still available for sale.

Though there are lots of pop-culture classic toy favorites (from Fisher Price to the Operation Game), these toys are all about the design, and a good dose of classic open-ended playtime. From Miller Goodman's gorgeous wooden blocks, to Eames classic bent plywood Elephant, each item features gorgeous finishes, modern forms, and imagination. This list certainly isn't all-inclusive, what's your favorite designer toy?

Red Ball Rocker, by Gloria Caranica, $265
Playsam Streamliner Classic Car, $44
