Q: I recently inherited my grandmother's dining room set and piano. I'm so happy to have them, but now that they're here, I don't know how to finish decorating the room. I need to keep the paint and curtains but would love some ideas for the rug and light fixture. I was leaning toward something like the Crate and Barrel Gabriel chandelier, but am wondering if I should do a large round pendant.

Have no idea about a rug. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Some notes about the room/house: the ceiling will be redone at some point; we share the room with our 3 year old, but the kid stuff, including the credenza (toy storage), will move into a different room at some point; we do use this space as a dining room and for dinners with friends and family; the house is a traditional New Englander style farmhouse circa 1880 in New Hampshire; I guess the current decor here could be described as traditional/modern.
