We went to a trade show last Friday. The Chicago International Casual Furniture Market took place at Merchandise Mart. Around 300 manufacturers showed their new product lines. We brought the trusty camera, of course, and snapped up the stuff that looked interesting. Here goes:

As far as the more modern outdoor furniture goes, we saw lots of very clean stainless steel mixed with natural finish wood. White is THE hot color choice for both the furniture and upholstery. Black and white patterns, solid orange and lime were also popular upholstery choices. Boxy, geometric shapes and square lines defined most of the seating and table designs, with some organic shapes and textures creeping in. We didn't really photograph any of it, but the more traditionally designed outdoor furniture is getting HUGE - there were so many lounges the size of king size beds with massive arms! Very overstuffed and "inside furniture" looking pieces seem popular - like you took your living room and moved it onto the patio... Here are the links from manufacturers, showrooms and designers included in the slideshow. Items pictured in the slideshow may not be available at this time as some designs were being shown for the first time at this market.
