With all of this talk about renewable materials, we are intrigued by the new design concepts that use banana plants and trunks. This serving set debuted at the 2011 Paris Maison and Objet trade show for luxury tableware. The idea of using the entire banana plant is an interesting concept, and I love the different diagonal lines the leaves lend themselves to. These may be a little out of our price range but...the design concept will surely inspire more items to come. This set is designed by Pigment France
, and is part of the natural product collection.
We've seen awesome books made from banana leaves, even woven bowls, and some biodegradable clothes, but these dishes take it to a whole new level. Although not available for purchase yet...at least not from what anyone's told us, these may make it to the tables of the rich and famous.
For me though, they provide some interesting design ideas for variations in browns that can be found in nature. The aged banana leaf design is a great starting concept for any project, so the diagonals and stripes Pigment France has pulled out to inspire this collection can also inspire your design ethos!
How would, or do, you use the banana leaf pallet in your home?
