Many of you didn't exactly share my appreciation for the diner-style seating at the local Mexican eatery. I love the everyday beauty of the place, but also love a more, um, intentional approach. So today, let's look at the interiors of Williamsburg's new traditional Mexican restaurant, Mesa Coyoacán, in contrast...

The menu's fancier than our hole-in-the-wall joint and the decor is, too: We love the lighting, the moody rustic ambiance, and natural materials used throughout the design. Long communal tables are shared throughout the space, which is located in a modern glass building on Graham Avenue (that's it pictured below). Some of the restaurant's cool lighting is from the Steamlight series designed by NYC architects and lighting designers Yael Erel and Avner Ben Natan of Lightexture. That's one of their fixtures at Mesa Coyoacán's bar pictured above.
