Desk Rail: The Digital Desk Assistant

Kickstarter

My home office is so comedically small, I can practically touch everything in the closet-conversion from a seated position. Even if your workspace isn't this compact, keeping your daily tools within arm's length can be helpful for productivity. Here's a clever design that dropped into my inbox which eliminates the condition of "piles 'o stuff" with an industrially modern finish the late Steve Jobs might have approved of...

Designed to "bring order to desk chaos", the Desk Rail is obviously designed with the orderly Mac-owning aesthete in mind, with a machined fit and finish that looks like an extension of Apple's own peripherals and hardware vocabulary, matching the exact specs of the width of an Apple full-size keyboard to the last millimeter.

The Desk Rail not only safely holds a wide range of items upright you may normally pile on top of your desk or hide away in a drawer, the design permits connecting USB and Lightning cables to snake cleanly from underneath and out of the side.

The Kickstarter project is in its infancy of support, and early bird supporters can save $10 by jumping in now to crowd fund this project seeking to bring minimally minimal order to your desk.

The Specs:

  • 16 ⅞” inches of pure organization
  • About 3 inches deep and 2 tall
  • 2.5 lbs of all-aluminum construction
  • Anodized finish
  • Resilient foam cushions
  • Cabling channel and removable side doors
  • Non-marring silicon feet
