Name: Dex (1.5)
Location: Toldeo, OH
Division: Single
Room Size: 72 square feet
Tip for Living Small with Kids: We are constantly decluttering, packing away clothes that don't fit anymore and unused toys. Living small forces us to be a lot more efficient.
Biggest Design Challenge in this Room: I wasn't thrilled about the paneling at first, but it ended up inspiring the cabin decor. The room used to be an office and it was very dark. To brighten the room, we painted the windows and trim white. They were originally stained the same color as the paneling. The dingy ceiling was painted a very bright white. We added the white light fixture to the ceiling. Basically we added white wherever we could.
Favorite Thing About This Room: The built-in shelves have been so handy and add character to the room. Diapers, wipes, books, etc., are stored on the shelves, which makes the lack of space less of an issue. I also love the suspended vintage toy gondola!
Thanks for your entry Danielle and good luck!

I never thought wood panel walls could look so good.
And blue carpet too - way to work with what you have! I'm impressed!
i am a fan of wood paneling! i think i might be the only one :/ i even like it when its painted white! I never would have thought these colors would work with the wood paneling but they do. makes me think outside of the box.
you actually made wood paneling WORK!
So fun to see the wood paneling! I <3 wood paneling, and this room is so adorable. Thanks for sharing.
I think this might be my favorite room on ohdeedoh. ever.
What a fantastic room! We have that paneling in three rooms in our new (very old) home you give me great hope Tell us more please! That side table is amazing. Where did you find it? Did you paint it yourself? How about the print over the crib? And the crib skirt? Thanks! Terrific room. Good luck!
i love love love this. i never thought i'd say this but the wood paneling is actually refreshing!
Oh and the miniature traveling cable car! Must know where you got that. Thanks!
so fabulous! way to make the most of what you've got.
Aw shucks...thanks for the lovely comments!
MemoBaby - Our home is older too, built in the fifties. I started seeing paneling in design magazines around the time I was working on the nursery, so that gave me a lot of inspiration.
I found the side table at an antique shop in Toledo. My husband has a paint sprayer and sprayed the base yellow color. I hand-painted the top and the different color balls (which took much longer than I ever imagined).
The print over the the crib is a vintage reproduction poster from the Disney print-on-demand store located inside the park. I called around until I was able to talk to the store directly and order the print over the phone.
The crib skirt was originally a fabric shower curtain purchased Target. With my minimal sewing skills, I sewed the crib skirt from a pattern I found online.
Thanks again for the compliments!
I grew up in a log cabin, with walls just like this! Finally - someone has figured out how to make it look clean, up to date, but still cabin-y!
Love everything but the paneling. Had it growing up and just can't get beyond it. The poster/gondola are awesome.
I almost forgot...the gondola was an ebay find. It travels back and forth on the cable by using the hand crank that's mounted to the shelf. Dex loves it!
what a great use of color! the blues and yellows work so well with the panelling, it could have been a disaster to keep the panelling, but it's the opposite. i love it.
... I don't know, it's a little 70's for my liking... but I can see the log cabin look...
I love this room. So comforting! Also I am in love with the gondola. I want one over my bed now. :D
So cute! Though I may be biased since my son is obsessed with all things Disneyland, the Matterhorn especially, so he and his sister's room plays off the same poster! He'd die for that gondola!
How did you do it ? Blue carpet and wall paneling ! Like many commenters, I never thought I'd say this, but I like it ! And I love the fresh 70's look.
You have a fantastic eye, I imagine you rent and can't change much, but if you ever get your own place, be sure to post a house tour on AT. I'd love to see it.
I am loving the furniture in his room - very unique! And the cable car - AWESOME! Great job momma!

I love this room! The art over the crib is perfect!
