As Día De Los Muertos approaches, preparations are being made to honor the departed and to welcome them as they pay visits to the living. In addition to marigolds, pan de muerto, altars, and other ofredas, beautiful objects are being made to bring the spirit of the Día into the home..
- This stunning luminary is made from a one-of-a-kind handmade woodcut by Annabella Miller Sardelis. I love that skeleton moth so much: this would be perfect for lighting each autumn evening leading up to Día de Los Muertos.
- A beautifully hand-embroidered tea towel from HouseBathory is just the thing to drape over your pan de muerto as it rises.
- This sequined pillow is lovely to behold, with its hearts, flowers, and excellent red/blue/black/white color scheme. Made by Clare Loveday, it's Día by way of London!
- I love sassy variations on traditional toille, and this pillow cover features one of the best: skeletons strolling and picnicking. The pillow is made by ShopSugarSnap, but does anyone know who makes the fabric?
- On sale just in time for the Día, this pompom-ed pillow from LAMA features La Calavera Catrina (the skeleton of the fashionable lady), a 1913 etching by José Guadalupe Posada.

The Strolling Skeletons print appears to be 'Midnight Pastoral' (great name) by Alexander Henry. Having trouble getting onto the website ahfabrics.com, but any search on that name brings up heaps of sources.
I love calaveras and that pillow is amazing!
I found the COOLEST hand-painted skeleton tile mirror at an antiques store in Galveston, TX. I wish I could add an image, it's so appropriate.
The flowers are called "cempasúchil", they are not marigolds. They have a peculiar and strong sweet smell, are a deep orange and narrow like a carnation.
Shame you didn't feature at least one "Catrina" sculpture, there are some really beautiful, if a little eerie, like this two http://tinyurl.com/3cw7ore

My culture is not a trend.

Who ever said it was a trend? People have been celebrating Dia De Los Muertos for pretty much forever, including (ZOMG!) decorating their houses! Relax and go get a cookie or something. Sheesh.
