We don't always know what to say about Dialogica. They are contemporary but with a sort of ethnic twist. They are whimsical and fun, but also classical and serious. They defy description, which is either good or bad depending on how you see it...
We have always admired their Malindi bed, however. It is hand carved in a semi-colonial fashion, and it comes across to us as just right on.... if you have room for this thing.
We have often fantasized about trying to build a bed like this ourselves. Available for $3,250 in King and Queen size. We also like the My Darling bed as well.

I really like this bed, too--but since my dad is from Africa, I have always been susceptible to "Out of Africa" type furniture. Thanks for pointing it out!
That bed could really go edgy-country with a great graphic quilt. One of Dialogica's best pieces!

I want to agree with Fiona. After living in Kenya a while, I really want to love Africa-inspired furniture. What I find is usually big on names, short on inspiration, but I think this one passes the bar.
I took one look at the bed and shuddered in pain. I felt the bruises forming on legs, hips, sides, etc. OK I'm always in too much of a hurry thus knock into objects. I do not like square, sharp corners or protruding items... these things seem to lurch out at me. Otherwise the bed is fine ...for other people.
I own one of these and it's fabulous. I have it in my city loft apartment and it contrasts beautifully with my modern italian furniture. I always thought of it more as a spindle bed (as Mary suggests) rather than something African-inspired. But, I must say, it works beautifully with my Seydou Keita photographs as well. In the eight or so years that I've owned this piece, I have never once been bumped or bruised by it.
Oh, that's simply lovely. Reminds me, too, of the spiral turnings that were so popular in 17th century furniture.
I couldn't quite put my finger on it...but now I realize I'm kind of getting a Nightmare Before Christmas vibe from it.
This ethnic bed goes well with my taste for urban music.
