- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- This is the one room in the house for which I've had a clear vision that I've been able to see through to the end (so far, at least). The idea was to fulfill my lifelong fantasy of sleeping in the clouds. You could say that this room is a gift to my younger self.
- What are your tips for creating a beautiful, healthy and organized bedroom?
- Decorate for the way you live, not the way you think the room is supposed to be lived in. For months I thought it was a problem that the LED lamps by the bed gave off only a soft glow rather than brilliant floods of light, but eventually I realized that I don't actually need much light in my bedroom during nighttime hours, so why go out of my way to have it there?
- In modern homes, bedrooms have become more than just a place to sleep; they can be a retreat, a home office, a library, a relaxation zone. What are some ways you make the most of your bedroom?
- Since my bedroom was inspired by a fantasy, it seems appropriate that I use it as an escape into other worlds - it's my favorite place to read and play my Nintendo DS. I've got lots of big, cushy pillows to arrange around me when I'm doing that. It also helps that I've got just the right amount of shelf space on my nightstand: enough to keep everything I might want nearby, but not so much that piles start to form.

all these beautiful blues are making me want to paint my bedroom again.
What paint did you use in this room? It's a lovely shade!
I love the serene colors of your wall and the quirky simplicity of your decor. I'm not wildly in love with the rainbow duvet, but I do see its appeal. It has youthful charm to it. It reminds me of the rainbow bedding JuicyStar07 had in her old bedroom at home, so I think that's why I'm seeing it as being a bit too young for a grown-up. (Note - I'm the same age as her, so I'm not a creepy old dude watching teenager's room tours on YouTube, haha)
Have you considered using a fluffy white duvet to have more of a "sleeping in the clouds" vibe? Anthropologie used to have a Cirrus duvet, but I think they discontinued it. DKNY has a similar one at BB&B. Just a thought! : )
I can so clearly imagine a big cloud on the wall over the bed. It would look so cool!
I love the rainbow bedding! It is so happy and bright. To me it doesn't read as juvenile at all, but as a great contrast the wall color, and a way to prevent the room from seeming dark. I also like this room as an example of a straightforward sleeping space that hasn't been set up for other activities (no desk, no tech, etc).
i love the blue walls and would love to know the paint name, too. sweet celestial dreams to you!
Hey, this is Diana. Thank you for the comments! I actually don't know the name of the paint color, as by extremely happy coincidence, it was like that when I moved in. For what it's worth, though, it's a bit less saturated than it appears - the light filtering through the curtains makes everything a bit bluer.
OMG please post where you got that amazing bedspread?! I am absolutely in love with it! Love the rest of the room too, btw! :o)
I got it at Target! I know, right? I totally fell in love with it when I saw it, too. Unfortunately, it was several years ago, and I don't believe they have that particular one anymore.
I keep coming back to this room, especially the first picture. It's really very lovely, even though it's not quite my style--the rainbow spread is perfectly balanced and softened by the wall color and the LED lights. You get my vote.
