We talk Mancave around here from time to time and we wax envious of the creativity of Star Trek fiends, Star Wars nuts and Design divas (divos?) but we would like to show you what a real audio nut would do if he/she had the time, expertise and wherewithal to do it.
Dick Burwen has been working on this room since 1962, when it was originally built. It basically has 20,000 watts and five channels, but he apparently prefers to record in 2 channels and remaster the sound for 5. This is really an inspiring project for those of you who are into sound rooms. Yes, those are [13' deep] horns in the photo- they ARE the whole wall on the far end of the room! In recent years he has switched over to computers like the rest of us, but a lot of the original equipment is still there. He even wrote his own audio software. Just totally insane- especially when you consider that he is recording and mixing, not just listening.
Go to his site to check it out because he is still working on all of this and has a lot to say about it.
