- Inspiration for my palette:
- I saw this amazing artwork on Etsy but it was more than I could afford and before I bought it, I dreamed of having it in my apartment and changed the decor based on this dream. The first thing I did was to change the curtains. What a difference it made. Then I bought lampshades from Anthropologie and got some cool stuff from 25th Stree Flea Market. Then two months later I saw the artwork was still available, and wrote an email to the artist and explained why it should be mine and how much I could afford. and she said YES.
- Colors used in my room
- Green, gray, blue, brown.
- Tips for using color successfully
- I think you should trust your instincts, sometimes what you see in the magazine might not work in your place, or the combination of colors would not create the energy you are looking for in your place. Before making big investments, try to get a sense of feel of the place first otherwise you might have a buyer's remorse the way I did, as I changed my place countless times and continue to do so. What you see in today might not be here tomorrow.. Blame it on th Apartment Therapy community!

Room for Color
I actually don't see much gray at all, only tan. The couch is tan, the rugs are tan (with small blocks of gray), and the black TV console doesn't really work with the rest of the room. I'd remove the dining table from under the dining table and just pull the table out because it's pushed too far against the wall.
Love this room! What color did you paint the walls? I think it's the perfect shade of light gray I've been looking for.
I love your pillows! And the art on the piles of books looks very nice too, that's a very good idea!
Isn't this post about paint and not about how she decorates her home? Anywho...I agree that I don't see much grey. Green is the color that stands out for me but regardless, I think it's a really nice room.
Where's the artwork from Etsy? Is it the picture hanging above the couch? Just curious. Great colors!
Hi ,
Tracy333, yes the artwork that I fell in love is above the couch.
Pi , the sectional is from West Elm and the color is called "Dove Gray" in their website. That's why I said it is gray :-)
twnt1andcounting, I did not paint the room, it was painted when I bought the apt and I did not change it since.
LyonStill, I did not know there is a rule that you have to paint the walls for this contest, if there was I apologize cause I had no idea. I change the decor in my apt quite often and I do not think I can tolerate the change of paint colors every two weeks. Sometimes I just change the curtains and pillows and voila the color effects change the mood immediately.
I love the chartreuse. I think you're use of color is just fine. Having neutral walls are very handy when you want to easily change the decor of the room. I would have dreamt about that painting as well. Great find!
your* Wow, I just became one of "those" people.
