You know that neighborhood café where you love the decor as much as the coffee? We've all got our favorite hang-out spots where we love to spend time and feel inspired by the atmosphere. Apartment Therapy bloggers have documented many of these places in words and photos, so we combed the archives for examples of stylish cafés with details that could translate into good ideas for a home dining room...

  • 1) From the Laundromat Café in Copenhagen: Line the dining room walls with bookshelves for a library-like vibe.
  • 2) From Green Street Café in Northampton: Mix and match vintage furniture for a lived-in look.
  • 3) From m. henry café in Chicago: Hang window frames from the ceiling to make see-through room dividers.
  • 4) From King Café in Chicago: Wall-mount a breakfast bar to save space, and add some stylish stools.
  • 5) From Bistro 33 in Istanbul: Hang a painted bird cage in place of a pendant lamp, and mix benches with chairs.
  • 6) From Crémant in Seattle: Use staggered open shelving for artful wine storage over a counter or buffet.
  • 7) From Ortine Café in Brooklyn: Tin ceilings add charm and architectural interest, while painted boxes create cool wall-mounted shelving.
  • 8) From Epoch/Pie in Chicago: An oversized potted plant adds height to a room decked out in IKEA furniture.
  • 9) From Sweet Tempered in Austin: A row of globe lights defines space, and Thonet-style dining chairs contribute to a classic look.
  • 10) From Lamill in Silver Lake: Symmetrical arrangements and upholstered dining chairs lend the room a sense of formality.
