Dining Table Tennis

I coveted many of my childhood friends' toys (Lauren Patti's Barbie Dreamhouse, most specifically), but we did have a full size ping pong table in our garage which was surely a
source of other kids' envy. I love ping pong because it truly is fun for the whole family. If you don't have an heirloom dining table, you can play right after dinner with this set.

3 things to watch for with these setups is:
1. Chandelier - ping pong balls don't have much to them but I've broken bulbs and glass pieces pretty easily with them. Also, if someone has one with loose parts (think of those old crystal pendanty one) things are easily knocked off.
2. Hitting the edge of the table with the paddle. This can mar up the wood pretty quickly. There is a reason their is usually T-Molding all around regular tables.
3. Table surface contact points. More than likely the ball wouldn't damage a table from bouncing on it but, kids like to hit the edge of the paddle against the table top (don't know why they just do). Also, the screw points for the net can easily scratch the table if overly tightened (this is lessened if your set has rubber pads on the feet).
My reccomendation is to get one of these sets, some plywood, paint, and some hinges and build a table top to go over your dining room table. My dad did this for us and made it so we could put a cloth over it at thanksgiving and seat 18 rather than 12. They make these for use on pool tables also. It was also small enough to fit into some brackets he installed under the table so storage was easy.
