If you're fond of hosting dinner parties and you have the space for it, a big rectangular dining table is the way to go. Not only are they great for spreading 8 to 10 party guests around, they're perfect for crafting projects when you've got the place to yourself. We've rounded up 5 rectangular tables, some of which are expandable for fitting even more guests.

White Enamel Flatwa...
Love this Bjursta dining table from Ikea, I have recommended it to a few of my young clients, not only it is a great extendable table but it is also very durable for its simple style and its quality...It also looks good with traditional chairs. Go for it...

It's really sad that the expandable Parsons doesn't come in white. I'm a big fan of the Thrive Quintus too.
Oooh I love that truss table from All Modern, but it's only 55" and doesn't appear to be expandable -- seems more like a 4-6 seater than 8-10.
Wow rectangular dining tables, what'll they think if next?
I have a table made out of an old door that seats 8-10 comfortably, but I've gotten up to 12 around it. Made for $200ish and it's great.
Nothing pretty or graceful. I'm having a really hard time finding a large expandable table that doesn't look like it belongs in a warehouse instead of a cottage.
Similar to the Crate and Barrel table is this one from West Elm, in the $500 range (currently on sale):

We just had it delivered to our house last week. It's sturdy, it's beautiful...It says it seats up to 6 comfortably, but you could get 6 just around the sides, leaving 2 places at either end. I can't wait to have people over.
I also really like the Blox table from CB2. It has nice funky legs and the price won't make you cry (too much).

We offer a similar Parsons style table, made from solid walnut.
