What a bummer to wake up to. Dish Network made a big hoopla about adding 22 new mostly quasi-HD channels (anyone who has HD knows all too well about stretched and upconverted content) but then all of us Dish Network subscribers discovered it came at a price: the removal of 10 of the 15 VOOM HD channels...
So we get these new channels:

- ESPNews HD (Ch. 142)
- Biography HD (Ch. 119)
- Hallmark Movie Channel HD (Ch 187)
- Bravo HD (Ch. 129)

- Cinemax 5 Star (Ch. 381)
- Sci Fi HD (Ch. 122)
- Cinemax HD West (Ch. 380)
- Smithsonian HD (Ch. 374)
- Comcast Sports Network Bay Area HD (Ch 419)*
- Tennis Channel HD (Ch. 400)
- Toon Disney HD (Ch. 174)
- Comcast Sports Network New England HD (Ch 435)*
- Travel Channel HD (Ch. 215)
- USA HD (Ch. 105)

But then we lost the following:

Leaving us with Monsters, Rush, Equator (thank goodness), Kung Fu, and Rave. I'm pleased about the addition of the SciFi and Smithsonian HD channels, only wishing they'd throw in TCM. But it's a shame, as the VOOM channels were often unique and unusual programming, and quite a few times guests were convinced about HD content when I'd show them VOOM programs as examples. At least I can keep enjoying Wildlife Nannies on Equator...for now.

OMG! Voom is gone from Dishnetwork??? for those of you who don't know VOOM channels : check out the web site www.voom.com
it's after midnight and I just spoke to a dish network rep I noticed that Rush, Monsters, Equator , Kung Fu, and Rave are gone!!! including the ones list .Those channels were great.

I am very disappointed with the new programming!! These were always new productions with latest HD technology.

VOOM HD was the sole reason for us to go with dish networks! Voom HD has 15 zero commercial channels with original programming not re-runs that everyone else has; plus their programs are filmed with some of the best HD equipment as their clarity is far superior to other HD channels! What dish did was slant the facts a bit.
First they never included Voom HD as part of their HD line up but instead charged a premium for those great channels!
Second the do press releases saying the are the leader in HD and have added 22 new HD channels. What they failed to mention was right after they added the new channels they removed the 15 VOOM HD channels so the net affect was an increase of 7, not 22 HD channels. Furthermore those new channels are weak! Does anyone actually care or watch the weather channel and need it in HD? or how about your kid in kindergarden is he demanding to watch cartoons in HD, if it really makes any difference?
Also those new channels are up converted programming, meaning no where near true HD quality and not even close to Voom HD quality. Many are not even better than an SD channel; example the world fishing network looks like some hick is filming with a consumer handycam and the SD channel - The Outdoor channel has programming the same clarity as a SD channel.
dish is not the leader in HD as directv has 90 channels and dish 80 currently. What is more important than numbers is quality of programming and clarity of programming. dish used to have quality with Voom HD channels but now they are just like directv but only less channels and more expensive!
I reccomend anyone considering dish networks to look at directv or comcast, or other cable companies as you will save money and I would not do business with a company that lacks the customer support they have provided to me. We are canceling our service next month!
