Beer Glass Chilling Dishwashers, Welcome to the Future

While at a recent event at Miele we were thrilled to learn about some of the latest advances in dishwasher tech. These advances include smarter dishwashers that can handle fine Riedel glasses, get grime off dishes more efficiently, and chill beer glasses.

Yes, you read that right. Beer glass chilling. In the dishwasher. Sadly, this fantastic feature is not available to US customers, but the other great tech we learned about is! Here are a few fantastic examples (all Energy Star) of fine dishwasher technology:

  • Miele FUTURA: This new series of dishwasher will be introduced to the US market in June. The model we had a chance to view at the event was the FUTURA DIAMOND which had a very nifty third level cutlery tray, brilliant LED lighting, and was smart enough to handle fine Riedel wine glasses. This model in Europe has the Rinse & Hold feature that coupled with the cold water plumbing system is used to chill glasses. We'd also love to note that this dishwasher series is freakishly quiet and does not require pre-rinsing.
  • Samsung DMT800: This sleek dishwasher has the "StormWash" system which eliminates the need for pre-rinsing. The heavy-duty wash system has powerful rotating spray jets that are perfectly positioned to clean at every angle. To take advantage of this feature, you place the difficult to clean items above the StormWash wheel on the bottom rack and it scrubs them for you.
  • LG LSDF995ST Studio Series: Steam was the word on everyone's lips while at the LG booth at CES and it is easy to see why after reading the specs for this dishwasher. By using steam, this dishwasher can obtain a thorough cleaning of baked on foods while using less water than other power scrub methods.
What are some high tech features you've spotted in dishwasher tech?
