This morning, I took a deep dive into the world of plating — food as not just a culinary, but also an aesthetic, experience. And I found myself thinking, as I looked at all these beautiful pictures of food: wow, this would make a really great room.
With unlimited resources (maybe someday!) I could have turned these plates into rooms in real life, but instead I just searched my massive treasure trove of photos for spaces whose colors (and textures) matched the beautiful things I saw on the plates. The point is: inspiration is everywhere. Do my interior delights match up to these culinary delights? You be the judge.
A beautiful dish photographed by Araceli Paz...
And a beautifully textured all-white bedroom from My Scandinavian Home.
Here's another plate created by Yann Bernard Lejard, this one spotted on Neonscope.
The dark background, framing accents in green and white, translates nicely to this living room from Desire to Inspire.
A Native American dish at the Kai restaurant in Chandler, Arizona, spotted on Afar.
Similar brilliant colors spotted in a Scandinavian interior from Hus & Hem.
Spotted on Lakrids, a striking black and white dish with flavors of licorice, coconut and chocolate.
Those same striking colors — and intriguing textures — find expression in this bedroom from The Style Files.
Pear ice cream with black tea, from Bon Vivant.
And similar soothing colors in a soothing hallway from Lonny.
Where have you found unexpected color inspiration for your home?
