Anyone who has browsed the online neighborhoods of Tumblr and Reddit knows animated GIFs are a popular visual currency for amusement. But what if you could take your favorite image or animation from online and take them out onto the streets to share while pedaling your bike?

The Monkey Light Pro, a Kickstarter about halfway meeting its goal, is a bicycle add-on lighting system comprised of 4 bars of 256 full color LEDs, controlled by a playlist storage system which holds up to a 1000 JPG, GIF, PNG, AVI, MPEG, MOV, QT, and FLV file formats to display while pedaling as the real world equivalent of an animated GIF on wheels.

Animated features displayed can range from cute, to geeky, to actually safety enhancing for bicyclists riding at night in traffic. The $895 (retail price) system connects wirelessly using Bluetooth, waterproof, and powered by a lithium-ion battery for 8 hours of showtime. How long before we start seeing these on the streets adopted by businesses and advertisers?
