Q: My grandmother is an incredible quilter and made my 1 year old daughter a Paper Doll quilt. It's beautiful, but I have no idea how to show it off. Can I get some help?

Editor: Readers, do you display your quilts? If so, how?

There are special hooks/holders to hang quilts from --- the quilt should have a 'sleeve' on the back of the quilt if handing from a rod. Check with any quilt shops in your area and they can direct you proper hanging of the quilt. Or search the net for clips/hanging quilts.
Definitely put a sleeve on it and hang on curtain rod. And hang it away from direct sunlight, so the colors won't fade.
what is so terrible about showing it off on her bed? as a sewer/quilter/knitter, i want the things i make to be used and loved to bits. literally.
i have a quilt that my great-grandmother made for my father (before he was born, hence it is pink and covered in kittens!). it has been used for 54 years, so it's well-worn, but keeping things pristine is so pointless.
I found quilt hangers at Michael's (in the sewing/notions aisle) that you can hang on the wall, and slide the quilt into--they have marbles that hold the quilt in place. They were unfinished wood, so you can paint/stain them so they match your decor. Good luck!
I'm surprised no one has mentioned that there was an actual post about displaying your quilts only yesterday on ApartmentTherapy.
my mother in law is a prolific quilter who loves to display her quilts and give them away to her family. so i have learned the easiest way to hang them is to sew plastic Bone Rings (example: http://www.amazon.com/Susan-Bates-Plastic-Rings-5-14285-5/dp/B003ILWHNG) onto the back at the top. drive a few nails in the wall, then hook the bone rings on. i find this to be the easiest solution because it allows you to remove the quilt (and the rings) and use it without having to remove a sleeve. (and don't worry, both my kiddos have several unused quilts folded away in their closets...some are for every day use, but others are special keepsakes that i want to keep in good condition!)
Assuming that the quilter didn't add a sleeve to the back of the quilt, you can pick up come curtain clips at Target or any such type of store and hang it on a curtain rod. Kinda like this...

I agree with doubledutch - as another fellow quilter/sewer/knitter myself, I take great pleasure in seeing the items I make being used!
Put that quilt on the floor for your daughter to sit on, drape it over the edge of her crib, or put it on her bed.
I recently gave a baby quilt I made to a friend's first-born. In the note, I insisted that the baby should spend some quality time lying on the quilt looking up at the sky through the trees on their farm. I hope the quilt sees plenty of enjoyment and wear and I would be sad if it became "art."
I believe in using things, too. My son had too many beautiful handmade quilts and blankets to put on his bed at once so I got one of those wooden towel racks from ikea and installed it in his nursery to hang quilts on. It made a nice, informal display.
My grandma makes beautiful quilts, but she uses such a narrow seam allowance that they fall apart in the first washing. So we use her quilts for decoration, like at the foot of a bed or on a guest bed. I have a corner quilt-hanger that I really love (similar to these: http://robinsonswoodcrafts.com/quilt-bow-quilt-hanger.htm) and it is easy to switch out the quilts that are on display with others in storage every so often.
