Oh yes! We are loving The Cozy Farmhouse's simple thought of "random assortment of things that makes me happy" noted in the Apartment Therapy LA Flickr pool. We often talk about this idea on Apartment Therapy and want to...
...hear what makes you happy in your home?
Some ideas are:
*Family photos hanging around your home.
*Clean windows to enjoy your view and bring in all of the natural sunlight.
*Spending time gardening in your outdoor space.
*Keeping your space simply clutter-free.
*A vacation treasure that you display to remind you of a great trip.
*Mixing and matching textures and colors in your space.
*Creating a cozy entry way to welcome you home.
Tell us your ideas!

I'm so surprised to be the first to comment on this.
Things in my home that make me happy:
warm and interesting wall colors (especially after living for years with renter's white)
cheerful kitchen curtains
my kids' toys all organized
peaceful screened porch
What makes me happy in my house?
- Windows open and a breeze flowing through
- Blinds and curtains open to let the light flood in
- A clean kitchen
- My kids playing and just being themselves
things that make me happy are:
my clean and relatively tidy rooms
my wall colours
the fact that everything is so open and light-flooded
my repainted frames and lamps and my self-built shelves
my cute little balcony
... in a nutshell, the light-flooded flat itself and all the instances of me decorating it in exactly the way I want.
BLISS!!
Things that make me happy at home are:
Ironed bedsheets
My newly redecorated pink living room...every inch of it
Clean, shiny hardwood floors
Organized closets
And I would give all of those up for my favorite, most important thing at home: my dog.
A bookcase full of well loved books.
My "knitting nook" as my husband dubbed my yarn/fabric area.
A cup of hot English breakfast tea on a cold, cloudy day.
Fresh bedsheets (I love sundays!) and towels.
The first cup of tea in the morning reading my favorite blogs (like this one)
my two cats
getting into bed with frest bedsheets
flowers
The feeling after I finally hoovered the apartment (it does look better, but I hate hoovering)
hearing birds sing at 5am
coming home after a great holiday and thinking 'it's nice to be home'
These are all *lovely* thoughts. Thanks for sharing everyone!
things that make me happy:
transforming a brand new house/blank slate into a lived in cozy welcoming space.
my dogs greeting me when I get home after work
the big windows letting in a ton of light
daisies!
*A fridge full of single serving containers of tasty meals for lunch and dinner.
*Framed artwork from my trip to Frank Lloyd Wright's Oak Park studio (I'm headed to Fallingwater this summer!!)
*My woven blinds from Target (they look so much more expensive then they are)
*Windowsill herb garden
*The excellent water pressure I get in my shower. You don't miss it till you have to do without.
Family photos - they are several per room. That and my nice comfy sofa - between them, I always feel at home.
My cats, when they are in an appropriately affectionate mood.
Finishing a project, particularly one that has been hanging fire too long.
Super-premium French vanilla ice cream.
Three-day weekends.
Really ripe and delicious: watermelon, peaches, strawberries, blueberries, nectarines...
A never-read mystery by one of my favorite authors and time to indulge in it.
Hmmm. No decor happiness comes to mind. Must be because it pleases me to have an attractive home, but I don't associate that with "happiness" particularly. (UN-happiness comes with messes and broken things and unfinished projects, though...)
I liked these:
*Clean windows to enjoy your view and bring in all of the natural sunlight.
*Spending time gardening in your outdoor space.
*Keeping your space simply clutter-free.
and will add these.
*A well designed web site
*Listening to the sounds of nature
