We tend to collect a lot of little tchotchkes on our trips — matchbooks, coins, charms, ticket stubs, postcards, receipts — and for sometime after we come home, we leave them out, a tactile reminder of our travels. We've been looking for a better way to display them than piling them on our kitchen counter. Here are some ideas we've rounded up in our travels through our archives and around the blogosphere…

• Try a Typecase: Over on the blog JooJoo, Afi displays the figurines she makes in a typecase by Mr. Tom Vintage Shop. We like the idea of using one of these for a constantly changing display of our most recent travels.
• Natural Collections: A friend collects sand and dirt from the places she and her family visit. Poured into little bottles, they march along the mantlepiece. Remember those shell frames you made in grade school? Another friend makes frames every year from the shells her family gathers during their summers on Cape Cod.
• Memory Quilt: In the movie Eclipse, Bella's mother sews a quilt made from souvenir t-shirts collected from the places she and Bella have visited.
• Photo Fabric: Using your home printer, turn those photos into fabric that can then be made into pillows and other items for your home
• Use Your Photos as Art: Your best pictures can be blown up and framed or turned into stretched canvas prints or even shower curtains. Even better when they're pictures that will remind you of your vacation.
• Vacation Memory Jar: Fill a jar with the little keepsakes that remind you of your trip.
