First, you need to get your photos printed. Don't expect the high quality you'd achieve with a fancy digital camera. Hipstamatic prints make up for their low-resolution graininess with saturated, evocative color and effortlessly framed compositions. If you don't want to go the home printer route (which involves trimming down paper), send 'em off to the Hipstamart print lab, where you can get 4", 7", 10", or 30" prints made.
Some display ideas:
• These framed pics are mobile-phone shots taken for "Phonography," a benefit art show held at San Diego's Blind Lady Ale House. Photo by Grant Brittain.
• I'm loving the Boo Box by Hatchcraft. It's an easy-to-assemble bamboo shadow box frame, available in 5.5" (to fit 4" prints) or 9.5" (to fit 7" prints).
• Someone should figure out an affordable way to recreate this stunning backdrop. Maybe ditch the glass and get crafty with plywood, paint, and some framing? Mod Podge? In any case, a display like this would deliver dramatic impact in any room.
• I want to put these picture-puzzle Hipstamagnets by Jill Giordano all over my fridge.
• This simple grouping of Polaroids from Crystal & Gavin's House for Modernist Cats (& Dogs!) pops against the charcoal wall. Hipstamatics would look just as glam.
• Mario Estrada from Hipstamart took this Hipsta pic of a DIY display in his old room. Tiny wooden or metal clothespins work especially well for this kind of look. Run string or wire in straight lines if you prefer a neater look. Get your pics mounted on Gatorboard and cut to size if you want to keep them from eventually curling at the edges.
• Signed and Numbered's attractive square frames come in lots of different styles and colors and fit 4"x4" photos. Prices start at $9.

Nomade Express Slee...
These are fun...up to a point. I'm a little tired of SO many pix looking like this. I wonder when the novelty will wear off?
I love the DIY Yarn/Photo wall! We have a similar thing going on in our office with yarn but no pictures, I'm definitely saving that as inspiration for our next place!
I don't like any of these......what ever happened to "less is more"
For "less is more," see image 2. Or, you know, leave your wall blank.
Wow, those Boo Boxes are really cool but way expensive. Ikea used to have some 5 X 5 black shadow boxes that I used to frame mine. I'd use the spacer to put the glass at the back of the frame and they looked really nice. I also have a friend who mounts them on 5 x 5 thick pieces of wood stained black. He puts a hanger on the back but they can also sit on a shelf. And he only charges $6.50 per piece.
Yep I will be displaying next to the pictures of my chest x-rays.
The blank Boo Boxes are definitely cheaper than the custom, but yeah, the price adds up if you want to frame several pictures.
"Retro-style".......so what's retro about them? I don't see anything remotely retro in this style of photo.
The Hipstamatic is based on an old plastic toy camera: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hipstamatic
@Uccellini......thanks....I googled the camera and app and found some much better examples on the 'net. Looks like you can get a pretty cool 60s feel. Neat. (The examples in this article don't do the app justice.)
re the large framed piece.....that's awesome. I like how it mimics the feel of the brick wall next to it.
@Rainywoods: Believe it or not, even after a lot of searching, I couldn't find any examples that actually used Hipstamatic prints to illustrate this post, so I tried to give suggestions that were similar and would work for the Hipsta. The app is so popular, I guess I wrongly assumed most people knew about it. I use mine ALL the time!!!
I learned a new word today! Thanks, AT~!
In the fifth picture, from what I can tell those aren't actual polaroids. They are a set of frames that mimic the look. I believe they're by Umbra and are sold at Urban Outfitters.
@Jessicamc: Very cool, thanks for the info! I will have to check those out.
Thanks for the ideas — very lovely! I think I lean more toward #2 and #5, and may create something like #5 (ideally with the #2 shadow boxes!) on our landing .... I love being able to switch up the art that is featured, so it's continuously evolving.
One word ... Plywerk!
why is iphone the only one with the cool apps?! boooo lol
thanks for sharing all of this, i really like the magnets! :]
@3twentysix: I use the Retro Camera Android app. It's pretty awesome, and it has a lot of different camera styles.
Love all these ideas!!! I never thought about doing anything more with my pics than posting them on Facebook. :)
That's cool, thanks AnnMaria! Have you seen this hipsta display thing with magnets from the future:

I am tired of this trend already. I think it works for single landscape-type shots but is distracting for a lot of other subjects. And that fifth photo wigs me out with the crookedness of the frames.
I like some of these, and aspects of the ones that don't strike me still give me ideas. Thanks!
guys, lomography. http://www.lomography.com/homes/clogged
real cameras with real film and stuff.
I think this looks amazing!!
what is the source for the third picture? i'm dying to re-create it for cheap! AT has creative people...how to?
Anyone know where I can get DIY instructions for this wall yarn web? Thanks!
It is a great idea to display Hipstamatic prints on wall. For High Quality Prints, you might also want to check out Bumblejax. They magnify the pics and provide mount-less framing, with cool material options like bamboo and aluminium. They also have an offer running. You can check it out at .
The link to Bumblejax is here.
Does anyone know where I could get the how to for #3 wall ? I am redecorating and have a blank wall I would love to use the big frame on
