A few weeks ago I visited a new store called Distant in Silverlake.

This one of a kind home decor store is full of hand made items from Turkey. Arzu Benavides the stores owner (who's family has been in the retail business for years) is excited to share these hand crafted and hand picked items from her native country. Nothing in the store is mass-produced as every peice is eclectic and unique.

The store carries organic cowhide rugs, Turkish chandeliers and sconces, pillows, not to mention suzani's - which are ground cloths that are woven and then decorated with varieties of embroidery, (sometimes used in bridal ceremonies) and are very hard to find in Los Angeles.

i heard rumour about this store & am so excited to see a post. i was kicking myself for talking myself out of buying stuff at similar store i found in fell's point in baltimore but now i'm glad i didn't spend the money shipping stuff from the east coast; this stuff looks so much better. thanks for the delicious pics, i can't wait to go.

Every time I wear my handbag from Distant, everyone pays me so much compliment. Even the men want to get one for their wives. Also, I absolutely love my evil eye bracelets. I believe they protected me from bad ju ju. Love the good vibe too.

this is a great shop. I loved every single item in the shop. The owner knows great deal of her products and their history and it's a pleasure to talk to her and learn about them.

It's very refreshing and it's an experience. Everything in the store is very unique, great quality and neat. I love the light inside, the smell of it and the good vibe in it. The owner is very welcoming. She offers Turkish Delight. It's yummy. I got 2 leather purses that she designed. I'm getting great compliment. The towels are so luxury. I Love it. Everything is great. you gotto see it. It's worth to make a trip.

Truly an amazin boutique. I agree with Francis, it's a pleasant experience to be in Distant. Recommended to everyone who appreciates style and quality.
