DIY art, especially paint by number creations, can at times be a bit boring and uninspired. No one wants the same piece of art that everyone in the neighborhood has so creative thinking in terms of cheap DIY art is a must. Check out this great quirky solution to that problem after the jump.
Hang with Big Picture Framing found a way to create art with a sense of humor:
This past weekend at the Seattle Center Pavillion was Bumber By Number, an interactive paint-by-number exhibit curated by Marlow Harris and JoDavid for the 2011 Bumbershoot Arts Festival. It included over 40 modern, contemporary, abstract and pop surrealist artists who were given vintage completed Paint-by-Number paintings and asked to alter them in their own style.
With the main subject matter of the painting complete, all that is required is a small change that takes it from typical to custom artwork with a personality. Find out more about this great concept at Hang with Big Picture Framing.

White Enamel Flatwa...
The splayed open chest is just gross!
These don't really have a "sense of humor" they're just gross or dark for no good reason. I don't want a paint by number of a bridge on my wall but even less do I want that picture with a car crash added to it.
these are hilarious!!
Love it!
I love it, too, and I'm going to look for some paint-by-numbers next time I go thrifting!!
I laughed. Does that make me a bad person? lol
My mom did something like this with the famous 'The Scream' painting: http://mescobalt.com/personal/carol-smiths-the-scream-redux.jpg
It doesn't come out in the crappy photo but the bridge railing is replaced by a kitchen countertop, and the orange sky is replaced by fire coming out of a toaster.
hilarious I would love this in my house
That reminds me of the crash scene from Beetlejuice! Love it!
Funny, not boring that's for sure!
