There's really nothing about this sliding barn door that we don't love. The reclaimed wood, the paint, the metal track. It all comes together so well to create a bold and unique piece that would work so well in any room, especially a kids' room.

You may remember Dana Miller of House*Tweaking from her beautiful house tour on Apartment Therapy. We checked to see what she's been up to lately and boy are we glad we did. Our jaws dropped at this stunning statement of a door she recently made with reclaimed wood hauled from her inlaws' farm, a gallon of paint, a heavy duty metal track, and hubby on power tools.
Dana writes about the contruction of the door itself in this post and the actual mounting to the wall in this post. You may not ever look at your door jambs the same way again.

Nomade Express Slee...
What a coincidence! My office just got a sliding barn door, but it is metal and red and utterly fantastic. Just last night I was considering getting one myself. I'm glad to see how it works in a bedroom, love it!
great idea...and space-saving, too. I've been eyeing the IKEA blanket too... it's such a perfect neutral.
I especially love the colors. Great idea.
Those colors are great with the door. The yellow is what makes it!
Love this! I so want a barn door somewhere in my house!
always wanted to live in a barn. love this!
Not only do I LOVE the door, but the bed as well! Is the headboard also a DIY? And where is that adorable yellow pillow from?
I've actually just been thinking about this - we have an open room in the rear of our house that doesn't have a door, but a sliding barn door would be perfect. Thanks for the link!
