When what you have is a plain, old rug and what you want is one that costs thousands of dollars, your best option is often a good ol' DIY. That was the case with Danika, who took matters (dye, really) into her own hands to recreate an expensive Moroccan Beni Ourain rug.Using black RIT dye, salt, a spray bottle, and old cutting boards, Danika of Gorgeous Shiny Things engineered a system for adding dark stripes to her 5-year-old white wool shag rug. (As an alternative to RIT, you could try a dye from a company such as Dharma Trading Co.) Her resourcefulness and the result are impressive, and Danika also has done a follow-up test that shows the dye isn't bleeding.
