I'm going to go out on a limb, here, and tell you I think paper lanterns are underappreciated as decor for a nursery. They're inexpensive, versatile, easily customized, and available in myriad colors. Just look what Mandy from Mint and Clandy Create did with hers.
After making the butterfly mobile you see here at the bottom of the lantern, Mandy was inspired (with a little help from her husband) to turn it into a lamp. Hence was born the "Butterfly Lamp," which I prefer to call a Butterfly Lantern, because it sounds so much more romantic, no? It's a simple but effective project that could serve as extra lighting or even a night light. Mandy provides a great tutorial on her site.

For a nursery? I have two in my dining room and two on my balcony. These look great anywhere! Although, I won't be DIYing butterflies on mine even though I think the one pictured is darling.
.
paper lanterns EVERYWHERE! love :)
Wow! I know I say this in almost every comment, but I'm constantly amazed at how people re-interpret everyday items that I would walk past.
