Although this DIY computer gaming rig was initially meant for, you guessed it, gaming, we actually think that this could be a sweet setup as a pocket home office workstation, if you're running low on desk real estate. The setup requires a bit of handiwork, but all in all, we could spend a few hours working in it without any problems.
DIY gaming rigs are great, because if you'd think about buying one, you'd be paying quite a bit of money. But what if you don't really do any gaming? This DIY gaming rig seems perfect as an alternative workstation. Since it's designed for extended gaming use, we see no problems in using it as a home office workstation.
Don Sturrok designed this DIY gaming rig. He used an IKEA chair, aluminum piping, and some simple fittings to put it all together. The fittings are from Simplified Building Concepts.
We think that this is a great rig for anyone who spends quite a bit of time in front of a computer. Using a lounge chair makes perfect sense. The build isn't that complicated, but you need to make sure that you know where you are going. All in all, the simple keyboard and monitor mounts, plus the fact that you can swivel them away, are really neat.

I love the computer case ottoman.
I'm worried about that keyboard. If it were lower, like near the lap, I think it would be easier on the arms. At its current height, I think it would lead to some loss of blood flow.
Besides that I really like the idea, but as a laptop set-up. Somewhere you could take your notebook when you're tired of sitting at a desk and work from a different position.
Haha! That computer case ottoman is genius for those cold nights.
I'd like to see a picture of someone using it. It's hard to imagine anyone (except maybe a supermodel) not looking foolish in that set-up, although I can imagine it'd be great to use.
