DIY Decor Ideas: Fake Taxidermy Art Projects

Taxidermy is the trend that just won’t die (pun intended). If you aren’t into hanging real deer or other animals on your walls, how about one of these creative, cruelty-free versions instead? They skip the creepy and are mostly cute. And one last note: take my word for it and don’t search for DIY taxidermy on the inter webs. Just keep your eyes on these and you’ll be fine…

TOP ROW:
1. Eat Live Make riffed on classic taxidermy in this humorous ode to the bicycle.
2. From Manmade DIY comes this wooden deer silhouette art project.
3. Sugar and Charm used twigs instead of antlers.
4. Instructables shows you how to make an all wood 3D deer with a bandsaw.
5. Little House on the Corner’s cardboard deer is fan-stag-tic.

BOTTOM ROW:
6. Here’s a papier maché unicorn from Lil Blue Boo.
7. Cate made a bent wire deer head for about six bucks.
8. This newspaper project from Design Sponge has some great texture.
9. A Lion’s Nest created these wall mounts from store-bought papier mache deer, which she painted herself.
10. Better Homes and Gardens has a how to for making this pretty version yourself.

For those of you who don’t like real taxidermy, are these any better, or are they too close to the originals?
