Crux, cross, and plus sign patterns are bold, graphic and super clean, without fuss or bother. They are also classically Scandinavian. (In Swedish folk art the cross is a symbol of hope.) As a bonus for DIYers, they're also really easy to execute. It's doesn't get more simple than a couple of black and white lines that meet in the middle.

Here are a few great projects happening around the web:

1. A Subtle Revelry made this simple tablecloth for a summertime pop-up bakery stand.
2. This pillow from Skona Hem was printed using a potato stamp.
3. Bleu Bird Vintage made this bunting inspired by Pia Wallen
4. Mette of Monsters Circus combined two trends into one project with these concrete paperweights.
5. This simple washi tape wall embellishment showed up on One Happy Mess' Instagram feed.
