With Halloween right around the corner, the stores are filling to the brim with orange, black and purple decorations. This fantastic DIY shows you have to customize to the usual pumpkin display using whatever fabric or paper you have on hand.

Jen from Tater Tots & Jello created this fun tutorial using leftover fabric from some decorative pillows she made for her family room. Certainly adds more than a little sophistication to the average gourd!

Shaw's Original Fir...
these look cool, but it seems wasteful. isn't it anti-environmental to be using paint/craft stuff on something that's already beautiful the way it is? also, these pumpkins can no longer be composted.
Actually, depending on how you have your compost set-up, natural fibers (or paper) and Mod Podge shouldn't be a problem. Mod Podge is non-toxic (you can make it at home from flour, sugar and alum. alum is also often used in the pickling process). I've heard of people shredding old denim jeans and composting them, so this should be much easier than that!
Thanks for featuring my pumpkins.
Actually they are plastic pumpkins so I can store them and use them year after year.

OOOOH my gosh, I found this woman's blog via Pinterest the other day and it should be called "How to Chevron a Chevron print with Chevrons incase it isn't Chevrony enough. Chevrons." I'm sure she has LOTS of leftover Chevron fabric.
Not sure about the green-ness of this either, I wouldn't usually bring that up but this is a green living blog.
doing it!!!!
