The great thing about DIY projects is that you can customize them to be exactly how you like. With this simple coat rack DIY, the neon accent adds a subtle yet fun dose of color, but if that is not your style, choose another rope color or try painting the wood to create a whole different look.

The blogger from Weekday Carnival made her own and explains:
You´ll need five 170 cm long wooden sticks and some neon twine. Just knot the twine several times through those sticks and after that, wind it around the sticks. Just to make sure it stays together you can also apply some glue between the twine and sticks.

Shaw's Original Fir...
One of the easiest, simplest, most handsome, and most satisfying DIY projects ever published at AT - and... you threw in that wonderful italics poster, too! Thank you.
Don't try this without the glue. The twine will slip and the thing will collapse! (Been there, done that, with a very similar concept...)
The coat rack is totally upstaged by the awesome poster.
I totally agree with Akay, loving the italic poster! The coat rack is nice too, but that poster is what wins in this post.
Any idea where to get wood dowels of that size (thickness) from?
@britwash
hardware store will have 'em. i bought one that thickness at home hardware for something else.
I'd drill small holes in the dowels and put the twine through those first to secure the thing. You can then wrap the twine so that the holes get covered. This is similar to making a tepee..
@velourcat - that's what I'd do too! I'd also like to see one with the bottoms dipped in paint or plastidip (which would be good for smooth floors!).
oh and @britwash I made a teepee, and while I ended up needing to buy dowels for the height, replacement broom handles were cheaper at my hardware store :)
