There are some play makeup products on the market these days, and we've profiled which ones are safe for kids. But what if you want to indulge your child without actually letting her put on makeup? Emily of Not So Idle Hands came up with an innovative solution: faux makeup kits from nail polish.
Emily made eyeshadow, blush, foundation, and even faux nail polish with cheap polish colors and leftover makeup containers. What she ended up with were realistic looking compacts that her daughter can play with without applying any real makeup to her face.
See how Emily did it at Not So Idle Hands.

Very clever. What a great idea!
Agreed, this is insanely clever! Only problem I would see is, at least for me as a girl, I never wanted fake makeup I couldn't apply. If there wasn't something to smear on my face, I didn't want to play with it!
I think my 2 1/2 yr old would love this! She doesnt care so much about the outcome just the play time. I do let her have chap stick (clear and its healthy for there lips )
I made these for a friend's daughter for Christmas. It worked well and was fun to do. However, it was VERY stinky and it took a while to cure. It I was going to do it again, I'd put it in a garage or on a balcony.
Might be better to use acrylic and add stuff to color it. I don't know about anyone else, but nail polish takes foreverrrr to dry for me, and thicker coats never really do, so filling a makeup pan would actually be a mess.
