Self admittedly; I don't know much about sewing. No matter how many tutorials my mom has given me about hemming jeans or that shark pillow I made in home economics years ago — I don't know the first thing about sewing. However, after reading this DIY floor cushion tutorial I plan on dusting off my inherited sewing machine and giving this project a go.

Instead of spending hundreds of dollars buying a designer floor cushion, Susan of Living With Punks decided to make her own. She picked up one yard of a super fun fabric (I know, that's it?!), two packages of piping, thread and fiberfill — I'm rather surprised at how little it actually takes to make such a wonderful floor cushion!
Cut out all of the pieces, sew them together and add the filling to complete your own floor cushion. It really seems too simple to be true. Make a grouping of these for the family room so everyone has a place to sit next movie night. Kids will love it because it's heavy duty enough to be thrown around and jumped on; but light enough that they can carry them into different rooms!

We use seat cushions as floor pillows/things to hit your brother with in our house...these are super nice, though!
i absolutely plan on trying this! i've been wanting some floor cushions for a while but haven't found any that go with my vision. can't wait to see how this turns out!
my mom made my youngest daughter one for xmas. It is the preferred wrestling companion these days.
Reminds me a little of the Amy Butler gumdrop pattern (giant pouf), but probably even easier.
