Here's a confession: I am obsessed with Instagram. It's my favorite social network. Favorite photo app. Favorite app period. So why not make my love affair with the service official by being an Instagram filter for Halloween?
Here's a handy video on how I did it:
The best part of this DIY costume is it requires exactly zero effort to maintain. Just put it in the closet and it's ready again for next year in about 30 seconds. Plus, it cost about $2 to make.
Here's the supplies list:
- Poster Board ($.50)
- Cellophane Wrap ($1.50 per roll)
The one key to making this costume really resemble the filters is to shop around for the cellophane. There are plenty of crazy colors and weights, but look for something truly opaque with a little variation in color. If there aren't many options in your area, you can use a water based paint to darken the edges or create more weathered effects. Just make sure it doesn't ruin the transparency of the film.
