I love hanging planters, but I don't always like the price tag that comes with them. When searching for a DIY option, I found this sweet one from Song & Dance.
Andrea, from Song & Dance, used a glass jar and some string to create her own interpretation of a tutorial found at Refinery 29. I want to make versions in 3 different sizes and hang them in front of my kitchen window.
What You Need
Materials
Thin string, rope, or twine
Glass jar
Succulant
Small rocks for drainage
Dirt
Scissors

White Enamel Flatwa...
Wow Thank you so much for posting the picture of my little planters! I'm honored. These little guys were so easy to make, and for anyone who's curious you can find the jars (set of 4) at Ikea for something like $4.00. Thanks so much again Apt. Therapy!
I'm going to do this! I've been looing for plant-hangy things for over my sink but everything I've seen has been too big. This will work. Thank you Andrea & AT!
LOVE this!
I've been doing the rope thing since I was in high school. Right now I've got a couple of spider plants hanging in the dining room windows. I don't think I could bring myself to buy a plant hanger.
Um...70s macrame, anyone?? Just like my mom used to make!!
'70s. Exactly when I was talking about. :)
Macrame=retro awesome!! Great work! It looks like yarn could work too for this project? I have plenty of it. :)
have you seen this www.cinchhanger.com/ ?
Doing this project with strands of glittery beads and putting battery operated tea lights in them would be nice too. You could even make a lighted mobile light fixture that way.
