1. Industrial Chic (Slide 2): HGTV brings us this glamorous headboard that is simply cut from a large piece of corrugated sheet metal that could be purchased at any home improvement store and cut into any shape you want.
2. Upholstered Nailhead Trim Headboard: From Casa Sugar, an upholstered nailhead trim headboard can be made for a fraction of the price of one you would buy. By making it yourself, you can choose a fabric that matches your style and decor perfectly.
3. Whimsical Silhouette (Slide 3): From HGTV, this chalkboard headboard is a great way to personalize your space in any way you want. (But don’t forget to buy dustless chalk!)
4. Bright Lights, Big Statement: With this interesting headboard from DIY Ideas you get a two for one: mood lighting and a headboard. I like the big statement this makes, while still looking cozy and inviting.
5. Rustic Romance (Slide 3): From HGTV, this headboard made from two old doors creates an instant rustic look that looks great with the clean, white room. This one has had me eyeing the pile of beautiful old doors in my basement.
6. Patchwork Headboard: This patchwork fabric headboard from Better Homes and Gardens is a great way to add some pattern a room that may be lacking. For those of us with more fabric lying around than we know what to do with, this would be a good way to use scraps from other projects.
7. Door Headboard: Martha Stewart brings us another headboard made from a door but this one is a more clean and classic look. It requires a tool or two and probably a trip to the hardware store, but the finished project makes the extra effort well worth it.
8. Pretty Ribbons: This headboard from DIY Ideas is one of the cheaper and easier ones but the end result is just as great. Wide ribbon is woven over a wooden frame to create a unique headboard in no time. You could do it in a bright color to really make an impact in the room.

White Enamel Flatwa...
Hooray! I'm so happy to see Kara's headboard here! The first picture is hers, she was featured on HGTV. Her blog is is chock full of goodies like this.
Lovely ;D
N.1 seems the perfect choice if you live in a flat and want to alienate your neighbours or if you are inclined to acoustic exhibitionism.
Wooo..i love #3!!
I used a canvas stretcher and a curtain to upholster my own headboard over here: http://capitaldigs.wordpress.com/2011/03/05/the-headboard/
I stole the idea from Young House Love.
It was beyond easy and really affordable. I can change the fabric in a wink too.
Wow that corrugated headboard is something else. Number 5 is more my style. I've got something similar going for my headboard--not doors but two rustic looking gate looking pieces I found in the clearance section at Home Goods.
how cool is that?

All great ideas, but one thing to note - make sure anything you use as a headboard is CLEAN and SAFE. I tried to make a great wooden screen my headboard until I realized that it was A)filthy and B) prone to splintering.
I love the corrugated galvanized headboard.....so original and inventive!
#1 looks like the headboard to slit your wrists on. A bit too scary for me, and as someone else said, rather loud for the neighbors as well.
All lovely! But what about making a footboard, too. My daughter wants/needs a headboard and foot board, in part to keep her blankets from falling off her bed. Any helpful advice out there ATers?
great ideas.
I was going to cut a fence into a style similar to the corrugated headboard, but I gotta say that I like the metal one better. Plus I can do it with tin snips instead of borrowing a table saw!
I really like the fish bedding in 4, though I feel it is a bit mismatched with the headboard... maybe if the background were dark blue instead of white, so it would be nighttime lights on the water?
I LOVE the patchwork headboard and the ribbon headboard! I wish I could try them both, but unfortunately I have no space where I can try either :( Awesome post though, I love headboard inspiration!
I love the light boxes. They would be fun to read by! Or for, you know, other types of entertainment.
I've been in love with the corrugated tin headboard from Kara Paslay (via HGTV) ever since I first saw it on her blog. So glad you're showing it here.
I also love the upholstered nailhead trim headboard...I might inspired to make one of my own!
Our bedroom happened to have a closed off, non-functional fireplace in it so we put the platform bed (West Elm, $299, LOVE it) against the fireplace with its nicely carved mantel -- it's an old building -- and that serves as the headboard.
I agree with Lizzy360, you definitely want to ensure the materials are safe or not something you'd be allergic to.
I created a headboard similar to the patchwork one but with different materials. I used foamboard, batting, hot glue, and velcro. I like the velcro in that I can easily change the shape of the squares and/or change the fabric.

I have been mulling over a headboard for ages and just can't commit to an idea. Thanks for more ideas to toy with for another year!!!
