Although improving the efficiency of our homes really does start with just a few small steps, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with what products to buy and how to install them. That's why I love the idea of Boost Boxes, well-designed DIY kits for tackling specific rooms or systems in your home.

Based out of Berkeley, CA, Boost Home has created 9 individual kits (such as “whole bathroom”, “whole home energy” and “garden water”), allowing you to make improvements one area at a time. (There's also a "build your own" box option for those that want a bit more customization.) While many of the individual products could be purchased at local home improvement stores, assembling everything together and including handy how-to instructions means you’re more likely to stop procrastinating and just get it done! Packaged in graphic cardboard boxes, these kits would also make great housewarming gifts for eco-minded friends.
