Perfect for Spring, or anytime, this wooden table and bench designed by Marjan Verboeket, graduate of the Design Academy in Eindhoven, can be yours. That's because the designer turned this piece into an easy DIY and shared the instructions with Dutch design site 101 Woonideeen.
Using wood, nails, a hammer and glue, this cheerful table and bench can be made in just six steps.
The bench is simple, it's more an element than a piece of furniture. They are like Lego blocks. You can build anything with them! Put a few pillows on it and you have nice seating. Stacked, it's a closet, and you can also use it as a stool or table. The nice thing is the thin layers on the side that you see.

great! now who speaks dutch?
Whenever I see plywood used in homes I think of that plywood smell at the hardware store Rickel which I loved going to with my dad because it had a Simpson's game at the end of the checkout. The store has since closed down. I'm assuming a room full of plywood doesn't smell like a hardware store, or does it?

I love this idea! Minimal and affordable. Anyone have any idea as to what the weight limit might be on the benches?
Really love this - have always wanted to build my own furniture, and this would be a great way to start!
I clicked translate, yet the measurements were still in metric ;)
We're going to attempt this as our first DIY ever. Which leads to my next question . . . would it work to drill a hole in the middle of the table for an umbrella (with a stand below) or would it a) be way more complicated than that and/or b) compromise the structure of the table? Thanks!
@havenobsessed - a) I don't think it would be complicated, but this particular design combines two of the benches to make one table, if you notice. b) I think it would be easy to adjust the measurements to allow for an umbrella, but a child sized umbrella -- if you made this two big, not sure that you would use plywood and the design without getting some sagging for the table.
Love the translation!

I love me some stubborn benches.
In all seriousness, this seems pretty simple. Too bad plywood is actually kinda expensive :(
