A Stylish $50 DIY Solution for Hiding Home Entertainment Devices
When you live in a small apartment like Mary (366 square feet), finding the right home for everything is a priority. Having already made over her kitchen and closet to suit her needs, Mary was no stranger to crafting custom, diy solutions for her small space. Her next project: creating a stylish setup for her home entertainment devices and hiding those cords!
Housing electronics in a stylish, unobtrusive way is a always a challenge. Here’s Mary on the topic:
“This may sound a little silly, but I find that one of the biggest challenges for me when I move into a new place is how to hide all the devices that provide internet, cable, and a display. I’ve never been a fan of giving up my space for a traditional TV, or designing around one…Don’t get me wrong I loove TV! Mindy Project reruns all night long. SNL every Saturday, yes please. But when the TV is off, it sucks. It’s a big blob of nothing in my space. I prefer to dress my walls with things that will always be ‘on’ and bring my space life or inspiration.”
Mary uses a projector to watch TV instead of a television set, but she wanted to hide all the wires and other devices she uses. Not to mention, she needed the projector to sit at a certain height for optimal viewing. Finally, she had a pair of lamps she wanted to sit on either side of the couch without using side tables.

An added bonus, especially if you’re a renter (Mary is not) is that the table top can be used to display artwork without putting holes in the wall.
