In our kitchen, the cupboard where our pots reside is the most precarious. It seems there is no way to avoid the inevitable clamor of mismatched lids falling from the shelves. If you're like me with limited kitchen space, you have no choice but to stack your pots and pans. Then the question remains: what to do with the lids? I stumbled across this simple yet oh so genius idea on Martha Stewart and can't wait to reorganize!
Get some towel racks with a depth of at least 2 inches, depending on the lids you're working with. I'm planning on using these Grundtal Rails ($7) from Ikea, but there are plenty of options out there (think bold colors, wrought iron).

Sheex Bedding
FYI, that's a lot of weight on a set of hinges that is not meant to bear it. I had this problem in my hall closet door when I hung coats on the door. The weight eventually pulls the hinges off kilter.
Thanks for the information Weibner. Good to know.
I would be more inclined to put this on an inside wall of a pantry or storage closet. One sudden pull on the cupboard door by an unknowing guest could tip them and ...!!
Great idea otherwise!
