Campaign chests are both attractive and practical, with the signature metal hardware serving as both a shiny decorative addition and protection to the furniture. If the style appeals to you, and you're the crafty sort who welcomes a project, take inspiration from Louisa of the design blog For Chic Sake who turned a simple IKEA Rast into a colorful campaign chest.
The Rast costs $35 and Louisa only spent another $50 or so to complete the project. You can find the full instructions and more photos at For Chic Sake.

is this the best Rast redo ever? I think so! I like it better than my own :) and I LOVE mine ;)
Amazing! But aren't those recessed-mount handles? That takes a bit more exacting work than was mentioned on the blog.
beautiful work.

Haven't we seen this one before?
Rural - nope. They're mounted and not routed.

Oh, man, AT, that's weak. I agree w/ ElleOh. It's a great project, but not when it's the exact same Ikea hack. C'mon...
