Q: We're buying a new house with hardwood floors, and very little storage space by the front door. I hate the idea of buying an ugly shoe rack, but we really need to have some kind of occupant+guest shoe storage system, preferably something tall and narrow (no wider than 2 feet) and not too hard on the eyes (unlike all the hideous looking and low quality steel shoe racks that are out there).
I'm thinking about repurposing an existing bookshelf or something, but I think I would need to divide it into many more "shoe cubbies" than our current furniture has. Any DIY suggestions for how to create a Shoe Tower of Power that we can stand the look of?
