We should all be so lucky as to have a friend like Nancy- a design student with an eye for the creative and a determination to succeed. Approached with a request to create a custom bar cart, and unable to find a table to convert that would fit her friend's style, Nancy decided to use their shared love of DIY pipe shelving as her inspiration.

Nancy sketched a preliminary design, then jumped right into bringing her design to life. She freely admits this project was a learning experience, as she built and rebuilt sections trying to make all the pieces work; all in all it took four trips to the hardware store to get all the necessary supplies.
She also learned a valuable lesson about the important of patience when using glue after losing a few glasses during the building process. Nancy still plans to add castors to the cart to make it mobile, a perfect final step for this wonderful DIY project.

It needs nice big casters.
I like this alot but curious as how the top shelf is being held in place.
Love the design of this cart .. and the fact that you ran with your own plan! The casters will be a big visual plus, especially if they're chunky like the pipe.
Oh my, where can I buy this! That's amazing!! I'm in love:) And the wine glass rack! I'm dying!! Thank you for the instructions in the link. They're really great and I think even I might be able to follow. Even for costing you $150 total, it's well worth every penny and way better than anything you could buy for that price. Love, Love, Love it!!
Oh, and if ya'll go to the link posted there are photos showing how the board is secured. Great pics. I really think I'm going to try this because I have been looking for a small table/bar cart for our dining room. I wanted the one that Emily Henderson had on her OpenSky sale but couldn't afford the cost and the shipping. This, I can totally afford.
LOVE THIS! What a great idea.
Really cool. Now come to my house and build me the full wall shelf version!
Ha! With all the plants for a backdrop, I didn't even see the glasses in the rack. This is perfect--very classy. It's got me thinking... this would be very versatile. If not needed for a bar cart, perfect as a sofa table, a plant stand, an entry way landing strip...
Yes. I'll take 5, please-and-thank-you.
I like it; could be used for any number of things; books, kitchen ware etc. Rather heavy, but that also means sturdy.
so I did this project, albeit a little differently. It was a pain because making a square with pipes that have threads that all go the same way is very difficult. and it cost me almost 300 dollars, not 80. i did use galvanized pipe which made up for most of the cost. i painted the joints gold and the pipes black. Its beautiful now but it was weeks in the making.
