DIY Inspiration: Daybeds

When you’re short on square footage, a daybed can be really helpful. It offers seating and sleeping, all in one space—a good solution for guest rooms, studio apartments, or any bedroom that needs to serve multiple uses. The best part? It’s not too hard to pull one off on a budget.

The simplest way to do it is to put a twin bed against the wall and line it with bolster and throw pillows. (Photos 1 and 2 both show similar set-ups.) If you’re a skilled DIYer, you can get a little more complex and build your own daybed, like the modular sofa in Photo #3, the pallet daybed in Photo #4, or the case study daybed knock-off in Photo #5.
