DIY Inspiration: Recycled Bottle Hanging Vases
Supplies
- Empty water or soda bottles
- Twine
- Nails
- Flowers
Assemble
- Thoroughly clean the used bottle.
- Trim the bottle to desired size.
- Punch holes in the bottle for the twine to be thread through.
- Hammer a nail where you would like to hang the vase.
- Thread the twine, wrapping it around the nail.
- Insert flowers and fill with water.

It's a nice idea to reuse, but for one thing, plastic bottles should be banned. Second, I'd worry about the toxins leaching into the plant. Especially if it was one I was growing for food. I would love an expert opinion on what happens when compost or soil used for growing food is in a plastic container. We spent tons of money replacing our plastic tomato and greens containers, but the compost bins are mostly plastic. Can we still unleash that soil into the environment?
