The Needle Shop is my favorite fabric store in all of Chicago. I have always admired these lampshades hanging over their cutting table so I was excited to discover a tutorial by store owner, Rachel Epperson. Rachel went for a fashion motif with her lampshades, but anything goes, especially in a kid's room. Primates, cupcakes, robots, or maybe a vacuum cleaner for the little guy who had the awesome birthday cake.
Rachel used IKEA lampshades, graphite paper, some very sassy images from fashion magazines and a super fine black pen to decorate these super fine lampshades. Find her instructions for this project and others at The Needle Shop blog. If you're in Chicago you can visit the shop in Bucktown, and wherever you are you can shop the great selection of fabrics, patterns and sewing books available at The Needle Shop's Etsy store.
