Morgan wrote in to tell us about a DIY project she came up with. She wanted to accomplish the following: an interactive space where we could hang the newest family photos, display cards, show off his baby art (which you know we're suckers for) or write sweet love notes to our little man.
The solution is this magnetic display frame Morgan and her husband made using an existing frame, some sheet metal, a piece of cardboard and a staple gun. It's a great way to display all the photos and paper items for baby and you can easily change things out. For more details, visit Morgan at CasaCullen.
p.s. Wondering about those terrific book ledges? Morgan's husband Walt made them. She took plenty of photos to document the process which you can check out here.

I like this MUCH BETTER than all the chalkboard painted frames. Chalk is so dang messy!
Where did you purchase your red ottoman? love it!
and your wall bookcases? =)
@jay40 -
The ottoman is from World Market, we love it too, thanks!
as for our bookshelves, we made them from old trim and particle board!
here's the link to those: http://www.casacullen.com/2011/10/oh-baby-nursery-decor-diy-how-to-make-floating-bookshelves-from-leftover-trim.html
Lovin' the shelves! I think they would be great for match box cars. Right now they are all in bins but I think they should be displayed to make it easier to find the car you are looking for, ahem, I mean the car my boys are looking for :).
@RPK123 - that's such a great idea! we will probably change out the 'display' on the bookshelves as he grows older...he'll obviously need a proper bookshelf and maybe we can start a collection for him, like it sounds like you've done for your boys! LOVE THAT!
We actually covered ours with chalkboard paint and it has (of course) been a huge hit. I cut our version to measure a special place and didn't add any frame though...
This makes me worry!! Magnets are a SAFETY HAZARD. If one falls on the floor and baby swallows it, that is a trip to the emergency room (unless it is a single, weak magnet and passes through).
Amazing, cool idea, but I would use it for older kids.
Or, a tray under the board would be perfect for catching magnets that might fall. A metal shelf would be even better, since magnets would stick to it.
@standupstapler...VERY LEGIT POINT! we are due in 5 weeks so obviously aren't parents yet :) i'm going to head upstairs and remove those tinier magnets FOR SURE! appreciate you voicing your concern, safety first! cheers - morgan @ CasaCullen
